Bedford SURF
Looking for something different to do this summer? Interested in keeping your competitive advantage? Want to get, or stay, in-shape? Does the thought of jumping in a pool catch your interest? Could you use some new friends? Able to swim freestyle 25 yards using rotary breathing? Well, have we got a deal for you!
What: SURF Summer Swim Team sponsored by the City of Bedford, a long time member of the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation (TAAF).
Where: SPLASH, located adjacent to the Boys Ranch Activity Center, 2000 Forest Ridge Drive, Bedford, TX 76021.
When: Practice is daily, Monday through Friday, with some Saturdays depending on pool availability. Start date is May 5th. Practices will be at 7:15pm and 8:15pm. Practice will continue until the State Meet in late July. Look at "SURF News" section for more information.
Meets: Swimmers will have the opportunity to compete in three local Circuit Meets, as well as the end of season Regional Meet. Swimmers with qualifying times will be invited to compete in the State Championship. The State Meet will be held in San Antonio.
Cost: The swim team fee is $125 per athlete. There are no additional fees for the circuit and regional meets. There is a per event fee for those competing at the State Championship.
Register: Boys Ranch, beginning in April. Bring a copy of each athlete's birth certificate (official copy not needed).
Try-outs: Any evening during practice. Just ask for Judy White-Pardee. Wear a suit and bring goggles and a towel. (Try-out before registering if not sure of ability!)
This team is open to all ages. In fact, Bedford SURF boasts the largest adult contingency of any TAAF team in the area. Bedford SURF has produced an astounding number of Regional, State and National Champions
in the past few years. You could be next!
